TBRI® Practical Application Strategies with Cindy Lee
The adoption journey doesn’t end the day a child is welcomed home. In many ways, it is just beginning. That’s why Show Hope is committed to providing families impacted by adoption and/or foster care with real, practical, tools to help their children thrive. Working in conjunction with Cindy Lee, licensed clinical social worker and co-founder and executive director of the Halo Project, alongside the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD) at TCU, Show Hope created these brief instructional videos as resources for families and caregivers, debuted at its Empowered to Connect Conference (now Hope for the Journey Conference).
The videos below contain practical application tips to help you implement Trust-Based Relational InterventionⓇ (TBRIⓇ) strategies at home.
Developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the KPICD, TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. At its core, TBRI works to promote trust, attachment, and connection between caregivers and children by addressing physical and emotional needs while also disarming fear-based behaviors.
Covering topics like sleep, lying, shame, and transitions, these videos will help parents and caregivers see the needs behind behaviors and encourage them to meet those needs with compassion and connection.
