Show Hope Trends in Adoption Aid

For nearly 23 years, Show Hope has been reducing the financial barrier to adoption through our cornerstone work, Adoption Aid grants. To date, more than 9,500 children have been impacted by an Adoption Aid grant—children from more than 60 countries, including the U.S. In our last fiscal year, which ended on June 30, Show Hope had the privilege of awarding 420 Adoption Aid grants—that is literally more than one child per day in a given year. Those children are from all corners of the globe, and today, we are highlighting the top three countries in which children were impacted by a Show Hope Adoption Aid grant*.
U.S. Facts
- Of the 420 Show Hope Adoption Aid grants awarded between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, 244 grants were awarded to families pursuing a domestic—or U.S.—adoption.
- Nearly $2.4 million was awarded in those 420 Adoption Aid grants.
- In the same timeframe last year, 237 grants were awarded to families pursuing a domestic—or U.S.—adoption, totaling nearly $2.3 million.
- According to our friends at the National Council for Adoption (NCFA), there are more than 340,000 children in the U.S. foster care system, with more than 77,000 of those children in need of permanent homes and eligible for adoption.
- Also, NCFA recently reported that the number of private domestic adoptions, also known as infant adoptions, have increased in recent years following a decline during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Show Hope Adoption Aid grants are the cornerstone of our work—and the original vision of our Founders, Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, who have a desire to SEE every child thrive and flourish in the love and permanency of a family. More than half of Adoption Aid grants are currently awarded to families pursuing adoption within the U.S. However, this has not always been the case. Not too long ago, Adoption Aid grants for intercountry (or international) adoptions outweighed those for domestic adoptions, so it can ebb and flow. What does not, though, is our desire to come alongside waiting children and families with both financial support and practical, educational resources for the adoption journey.
