The Financial Barrier to Adoption

There are approximately 15 million children around the globe who have been orphaned. Here in the U.S. alone, there are more than 100,000 children in the foster care system who have had parental rights terminated. This global issue crosses international borders, racial divides, and economic classes. It impacts children from every walk of life, and something must be done about it.

Today, the cost of adoption ranges between $25,000 to $50,000. This is simply outside the financial reach for many families—and one of the primary barriers to parents stepping out to pursue adoption as a way to grow their families.

However, through Show Hope’s cornerstone work and the original vision of our Founders, Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, we have had the privilege to provide more than $40 million in Adoption Aid grants, impacting thousands upon thousands of children and families.

“My husband, Steven Curtis Chapman, and I founded Show Hope in 2003 because we believe every single child needs to know the love and permanency of a family,” Mary Beth Chapman shared. “Our part in that, outside of our own adoption journey, is to help break down barriers between waiting children and loving families. One of the way we do that is through Show Hope’s Adoption Aid grants. If you feel God guiding your heart to adopt, be encouraged. Even when it seems impossible, there is hope. And there is help along the way!”
