Show Hope’s Desire to Journey Further

With a desire to address the medical barrier to adoption, more than three years ago, Show Hope took a step back to listen, dream, and hope. What if we could further journey with children and families, once adoption has been finalized, by offering Medical Care grants to help offset healthcare expenses?

Since the fall of 2020, Show Hope has awarded more than 100 Medical Care grants to financially assist families with medical expenses for their children welcomed home through adoption, whether it’s a pre-existing condition or a need that just recently developed.

These grants have helped families provide medical devices and equipment such as a sports wheelchair, a refreshable braille display, a walker, and an AAC device. These grants have also helped pay for surgeries, hospital stays, physical therapy, medications, and more.

An Impact Story: The Turney Family

The Turney family received a Show Hope Medical Care grant on behalf of their son Thad in 2023. Before receiving the grant, Thad’s mother, Ashely, shared in regard to his medical care, “I really had a peace at the beginning about when they said how much it was going to be. I just felt like, God is going to provide that. And I had a peace about it in the very beginning and through the fundraising.”

“God worked through Show Hope to give us what we needed, when we needed it. It was perfect timing,” Justin, Thad’s father, continued. “A big thank-you to Show Hope and a big thank-you to everyone who donated. God provided through a lot of different people.”

Today, Show Hope Medical Care grants range between $6,000 and $8,000 each, totalling more than $1 million since 2020.

We would be honored to step into your family’s adoption journey, providing financial support for your child’s medical needs. If you would like to learn more about Show Hope’s Medical Care grants, please visit showhope.org/medicalcare.
