A Letter From Show Hope’s Executive Director
Dear Friends,
At this time last year, we were seeing significant growth in Show Hope’s Adoption Aid grants—a growth, to be honest, that we had not anticipated. We saw those needs growing, and you stepped up, again, to ensure we were able to reduce the financial barrier to adoption. As a result, we had the privilege of awarding 399 Adoption Aid grants, totaling nearly $4 million. It was a banner year, in which more than one child per day was impacted.
Today, those same needs continue, and as our Adoption Aid grants rise, so do Show Hope’s Medical Care grants and Pre+Post Adoption Support. In fact, more than 60 percent of our Medical Care grants families also received an Adoption Aid grant, and earlier this year, we saw a record 18,000 individuals impacted by our Hope for the Journey resource. That number represents families, church leaders, and professionals who were met with paradigm-shifting support in their pursuits to care well for the children entrusted to them.
As we look ahead, we have prayerfully and strategically set goals that will continue our pursuit of caring holistically for children and families—from the days before a child is welcomed home to the journey thereafter.
- To award 420 Adoption Aid grants, totaling more than $4 million
- To award 100 Medical Care grants with an expanding initiative of mental/behavioral health grants, all totaling $800,000
- To award 250 professionals with grants to TBRI® (Trust-Based Relational Intervention®) Practitioner Training
- To build a new Hope for the Journey experience, where year-round access to this much-needed content will be available for parents, caregivers, pastors, educators, therapists, and more
In this final week of 2024, I invite you to join Show Hope, once again, in reaching a $500,000 fundraising goal by midnight on December 31. I know $500,000 is lofty for a single week, but generous donors are also matching all gifts up to $100,000. And with your prayers, support, and generosity, I know we will reach—and even surpass—that $500,000 goal. I believe in this work, and I know you do too. So together, let’s humbly ask and believe that God will do it again.
With sincere gratitude,
Kristin E. Parks
