Additional Support
Adoption Support and Resources
The adoption journey may be the most difficult thing you'll ever do. We have found these resources helpful and hope-giving along the way.
Recommended Resources
Show Hope recommends a number of helpful resources for foster and adoptive families. We invite you to explore this extensive list of parenting books, childrens books, DVDs, short videos, and audio.
TBRI® Professionals Near You
Many professionals have received specialized training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at TCU and are better equipped to provide support to adoptive and foster families. Show Hope has been involved in the training of many of these counselors, therapists, caseworkers, educators, and medical professionals.
Cultivate Connection
There are seasons of parenting that are overwhelming and leave us weary. For many of us, we find ourselves there now. Cultivate Connection is a peer-to-peer parenting course, facilitated by parents for parents. Cultivate Connections provides the community and support you need, right where you are. You'll have space to breathe, find some joy, and feel more empowered to meet daily challenges. The purpose: To empower parents and caregivers to be confident, calm, curious, compassionate, and connected.
Resources for Churches and Faith Communities
Churches and faith communities have a unique opportunity to show the tangible love of God to those most vulnerable in their communities.
Trauma Competency Continuum
By taking active steps to move along the Trauma Competency Continuum, developed in partnership between Show Hope and Empowered to Connect, a church or faith community becomes trauma informed—making a commitment to pursue hope, healing, and restoration through implementing compassionate, supportive policies and practices.
Training for Professionals
The work you do for children is vitally important. We believe these resources can help make this work even more effective.
TBRI® Grants
Show Hope partners with generous donors and the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development to provide grants for the TBRI® Practitioner Training. To date, Show Hope has been involved in the training of more than 2,000 professionals from here in the U.S. to around the globe.
The training experience prepares professionals, such as therapists, caseworkers, and medical professionals, to work with children who experienced early trauma and their families. The training consists of online coursework and five days of on-site training.
