When Love Won

Girl making a heart shape with her hands

Dear friends,

As Easter approaches, I have been thinking a lot about the resurrection of Jesus. As I reflect on this miraculous, literal life-altering, history-changing event, I am always humbled that as a Christian, the God of the universe put on flesh, took the weight of my sin, and paid for it with His life. I cannot fathom those three days before the resurrection, yet as I sit in the reality, these truths hit me again: Jesus died, was buried, and then resurrected, sealing eternity with Him for us.

Death was swallowed up, and love won!

As simple as it sounds, it seems everywhere I look this spring, I truly believe that Jesus left us with tangible reminders of what and how resurrection plays out around us. The way in which seasons are such a picture of the dead that comes with winter, and the spring is just waiting around the corner with new life. I love the fresh blooms of spring and the promise that seems to be in every flower after a cold, hard winter. Surely these are little “God winks” of constant renewal and change—the resurrection work that He is doing within us constantly.

The work of Show Hope is such an honor and privilege and has always felt so sacred because of this very word resurrection. To SEE so many stories of brokenness turning to hope and healing in the lives of children and families is a picture of new life … restoration and redemption here on earth. Oftentimes, I simply stand in awe of what God does through this work.

Brokenness is real. Pain is real. Grief is real. I will be the first to tell you that. Yet for those of us in Christ, we know the story is not over because love has already won!

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” — Isaiah 43:19
