The Hyde Family

Hyde family

This family is a part of Show Hope’s 20/20 Campaign. The goal is to help 20 children come home by raising funds for Adoption Aid grants for 20 families, all in one month.

In the spring semester of her freshman year of college, Cari Hyde was diagnosed with leukemia. She and her then-boyfriend, now husband, Ryan, both left school to battle her cancer together. Cari was able to receive the treatment she needed but was told that due to the nature of the treatments, she would not be able to have children biologically.

“We have since prayed for God’s direction in how we should pursue starting a family. The financial barriers have always seemed insurmountable,” Ryan said.

Now, 10 years later, the Hydes feel that God is leading them to grow their family through the adoption of a child from the United States.

That financial barrier has seemed insurmountable to so many other couples considering adoption as well. For many like Ryan and Cari, that first step can be a big leap of faith.

“It’s easy to get into routines in life where you are relying on your own ability to plan, but that’s not the case when you are adopting,” they said. “There are plenty of ups and downs, so we’ve been trying to continually give every situation over to God.”
