About Supporting the Care Centers
No, your giving helps provide support for all the children in our care. Because our sponsorship program is not a one-to-one model, your giving helps provide medical care for children with acute medical and special needs across all our Care Centers in China.
No, as a Show Hope sponsor you are able to follow as many children’s stories as you like.
Show Hope’s Care Centers are only able to operate through the invitation and permission granted by the Chinese Center for Children’s Welfare and Adoption. Children who enter our care never leave the guardianship of their originating orphanage. Each orphanage determines which children would benefit most from the care available through our Care Centers.
Show Hope’s Care Centers provide acute care for children who are among the most medically fragile orphans in China. As a result, children regularly transition out of our care. Often, a child may be “called back” by their guardian orphanage once they have been processed or matched for adoption. Other times, children who have become healthy are called back by their orphanage so that another child who has more acute medical or special needs can be admitted. In some cases, God chooses to provide healing by calling a child home to his arms. It is our great joy and privilege to love and care for each child entrusted to us, for however long or short a time that may be.
Our ultimate hope is that each child who comes into our care would have the opportunity to know the nurture and protection of a loving family. We are thankful that over time we have seen a significant number of children’s paperwork processed for adoption and placed into families. Because Show Hope is not a placing agency, we cannot be directly involved in the adoption process of children from our care. However, if you would like to find out how to make an inquiry through a licensed agency, please email Cathy Troyer at ctroyer@showhope.org.
We love to give sponsors the opportunity to send cards, goodies, and needed supplies to children in our care, but are unable to deliver gifts or cards that single out a specific child.
Because children in our care associate child-specific gift giving with the news of being matched to a family for adoption, having a gift arrive without an adoptive family tied to it can be confusing and difficult for the child to comprehend. To protect against this type of misunderstanding, we request that any gifts or cards be shared in a way where all the children will benefit.
Each year, Show Hope invites donors and sponsors to join us on a trip to Maria’s Big House of Hope in Luoyang, China. These trips allow participants to experience the impact of their giving first-hand and possibly even meet some of the children they have been praying for while following their stories. Learn more about our trips here.
Our sponsorship is foundational to the work we are able to do in China, and we are deeply thankful for your heart and generosity toward the children in our care. In addition to your financial support, there are two other ways you can impact the lives of these children.

Following their first adoption in 2000, Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman returned home with a deep desire to meaningfully enter into the needs of children who remained waiting in China. Across the globe, God was also working in the hearts of Robin and Joyce Hill. The Hills had first arrived to China as expats in 1994, following Robin’s business career. God began to awaken their hearts to the needs of orphans in China. With Joyce’s background as a physician, the Hills decided to put their faith in action and in 2000 they opened their home to orphans with significant medical needs. What began as an effort to provide specialized medical care to a few children, soon began to grow into something much greater. Through a series of events only God could orchestrate, the Chapmans were soon introduced to Robin and Joyce Hill and the work of New Hope Foundation. With a shared heart and passion to see good come to a greater number of children, the partnership between Show Hope and New Hope Foundation began in 2005. More than 2,000 children have benefited from this partnership, and we look forward to seeing how God will continue to work in the days and years to come.
