Katie was born and raised in Galesburg, Illinois and remains a loyal Chicago Cub fan. She attended college at Cedarville University in Ohio and loved her time there. After graduation, she headed off to China to teach English for a year, but ended up staying for six years. It was during her last year in China she became involved at a local orphanage and God opened up her eyes and heart to care for the fatherless. After moving back to the U.S. God led her to a custom-fit job for her at Show Hope. Katie’s role as the short-term trips program manager allows her to continue to travel to China, and to be able to help team members serve at Maria’s Big House of Hope as explore God’s heart for them to care for orphans. Katie loves Cuban coffee, Tim Tams, traveling, reading, swing dancing, Ireland, and a good harmonica solo.
