The church is “the body” of God on earth, his hands and feet to serve the world, and a model of his coming kingdom. It is the foundation—the home base—for thriving Christian community and service. As a church family, you have an opportunity to answer God’s holy invitation to care for orphans in your own town.
Your unique gifts and individual talents are vital to the movement to care for orphans. The unity, acceptance, and love you offer contributes to the wholeness of hope, as well as the protection of vulnerable children. There are so many ways to show you care for waiting children in your church community.
Here are three ideas to try!
Make Coffee at Home
Seems a little silly, right? Hear us out.
Commit to brewing a cup at home and saving the $2 a cup to donate to Show Hope! While buying a cup of coffee is a morning ritual for many of us, there are more economical ways to get your caffeine fix than to spend money at a coffee shop. Create a friendly competition with your small group or Bible study to see who brews the best pot or who goes the most days without visiting a coffee shop. Encourage and hold one another accountable in your commitment to brew at home. Together, you can combine savings for a sizable contribution!
Volunteer your talents and gifts to make an impact in the lives of orphaned children around the world. There are always opportunities to help with Show Hope events across the country, like Steven Curtis Chapman concerts and the Red Bus Project tours. You can also volunteer time at local churches or organizations that focus on orphan care, or consider mentoring or tutoring a child to provide them with educational and relational support.
Organize an Advocate Project for Show Hope
Be a voice for the fatherless. Show Hope advocates are grassroots leaders who raise funds and awareness in their communities by utilizing their talents, gifts, and passions to speak up for orphans in distress. They donate birthdays, run marathons, and host garage sales—all to restore the HOPE of a family to waiting children around the world. Together with your church you can become Show Hope advocates and organize a project or event to raise funds or supplies for orphans in distress. Learn more about becoming an Advocate today!
