Friday mornings during the summer at Maria’s Big House of Hope usually mean it’s pool day, however one particular Friday, we awoke to dark skies and thunder putting an end to the plans we had made for the day. Still wanting to do something special for the kids, we decided on having a movie day!
We gathered blankets and pillows to make a cozy spot on the floor and popped lots of popcorn for a snack! We also gathered several coloring books, stickers, and nail polish in case the kiddos got bored of the movie 🙂
Nathalie enjoyed getting to color and have popcorn, while the other girls loved getting their fingernails and toenails painted! Hope and Jesse enjoyed some extra snuggle time.
The best part of movie day was actually not the movie! The best part was seeing the sweet smiles, laughter, and cuddles from the children. What started out as a gloomy day turned into a joyous one. Most of all, it was a gentle reminder that our plans are not the best ones and that God has far better plans than any we could try to prepare. While a day at the pool would have been fun, we would have missed the precious opportunity to slow down and simply “be” with the kids. To all of our sponsors and donors, thank you for making memories like this possible for the kiddos at our Care Centers!
