Bringing Gunner Home

August 5, 2014 | Posted In Adoption Aid | Share

This is Gunner.

This is Gunner.

He is a four-year-old currently living in China. Gunner is in need of specialized medical care but even more than that, he needs the unconditional love and protection of a family. Across the globe, there is a family who longs to welcome Gunner home – U.S. Army pilot Sam Morgan and his wife Stacie.

The Morgans

Following the birth of their two daughters, Sam and Stacie faced fertility challenges. After months in prayer, they felt God leading them to adopt a child with special needs from China. Although their conviction to adopt came at the same time Sam was preparing for his 5th deployment to the Middle East, the Morgan family chose to trust the Lord’s timing and proceed with the adoption of their first son, Gage, in 2013.

Morgan Family

As Gage continues to settle into life with his new family, Sam & Stacie have felt the calling to be a forever family for another son from China with similar special needs as those of Gage. Because this second adoption comes on the heels of their first, the Morgans are again relying on the Lord to provide the financial resources necessary to bring home their new son, Gunner.

In order to welcome both of their sons into the family, the Morgans have learned to sacrifice, relying on the Lord’s provision for their most basic needs. The average adoption costs over $25,000, creating a substantial barrier between waiting children like Gunner and their forever families. Stacie explains that many adoptive families “save every penny, fundraise through t-shirt sales, host yard sales, take out loans, or borrow against their 401Ks.”

Sam Morgan and his daughter

After exhausting all other resources, the Morgan family has now reached out to Show Hope for financial help to bring Gunner home. We need YOUR help to do this! We want to provide Adoption Aid grants to help join waiting children with families like the Morgans, but Show Hope does not have the funding needed to help all the qualified families who apply. We have set a goal of raising an additional $15,000 this month to provide Adoption Aid grants that will transform the lives of children like Gunner. Psalm 68 tells us that “God sets the lonely in families.” Will you join us in making this scripture a reality for orphans around the world by donating to Show Hope’s Adoption Aid fund today?
