3 (More) Great Ministries Caring for Orphans

3 Great Ministries Caring for Orphans

The international orphan crisis affects over 140 million children around the world. At times, the problem can feel nearly impossible to address due to its vast scope. However, the good news is that Show Hope is not alone in this movement! Here are three (more!) great ministries caring for orphans in the US and across the globe.

1. ABBA Fund

Similar to the work of Show Hope, ABBA Fund provides adoption assistance to ensure that those whose hearts have been stirred by God to adopt would be able to do so, regardless of financial obstacles. Since 2004, this ministry has provided over $4 million in interest-free loans for those seeking to become a forever family for waiting children. (Note that ABBA Fund differs from Show Hope in that they provide loans while Show Hope provides grants).

2. Lifesong for Orphans

The mission of Lifesong for Orphans is to “mobilize the church, His body, where each member can provide a unique and special service: some to adopt, some to care, some to give.” Caring for orphans in nine countries, Lifesong for Orphans seeks to ensure that all children have no want for food, clothing, medical care or shelter, and that they have quality education and fundamental Christian training and discipleship as a foundation for their future. Through services ranging from foster and orphan care to adoption grants and loans, Lifesong for Orphans provides continued love and support for vulnerable children so they can transition into a thriving adult life.

3. Empowered to Connect

Empowered To Connect (ETC), led by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Michael & Amy Monroe, offers a wide array of resources for adoptive and foster parents in order to provide insights into what their children may need as well as strategies on how to respond to those needs. In addition, Show Hope has partnered with ETC to put on Empowered to Connect conferences around the country. These conferences are designed to help adoptive and foster families develop new connecting strategies. Empowered to Connect is all about helping parents create strong and lasting connections with their children in order to help facilitate healing for them and set the foundation for healthy attachments in  the future. Through financial grants to help families adopt, Show Hope seeks to restore the hope of a family to waiting children around the world, but we can’t do it alone. Along with the amazing organizations listed above, we need YOU! Whether you are feeling the Lord’s call to become an adoptive family yourself or would like to provide financial assistance for those seeking to adopt, Show Hope is excited to empower you to care for orphans.
