Gabriel was admitted to our Jiaozuo Special Care Center in January 2010 when he was just a few days old. He was diagnosed with MMC and Hydrocephalus. A year later, Gabriel was temporarily transferred to Maria’s Big House of Hope in order to receive surgery for a shunt from the Geisinger Surgical Team. Within a few weeks, Gabriel was fully recovered and back with his friends and nannies in Jiaozuo.
Today, Gabriel is 3 years old and is sure to greet you with a big smile when you walk into his room! He is kind to the other children in his room and loves to be helpful. Like any 3-year-old, Gabriel can also be mischievous at times but is eager to listen and make good choices when corrected. He is a great student in preschool and is steadily tracking with the cognitive development of other 3-year-olds in his class. His MMC has limited the mobility in his right leg, but it doesn’t slow him down one bit! He is able to crawl and is eager to be independent and explore his surroundings.
Gabriel is not in need of further surgeries at this time. Please pray that Gabriel’s shunt will continue to drain properly and that he will continue to grow strong and healthy. Please also pray that Gabriel will know the love of a forever family who will be able to provide for his medical needs and see him for the treasure that he is.
+ Lord over all, we pray that you would grant safety in travel during The Glorious Unfolding Tour. Use this tool to mobilize your children on behalf of the fatherless through the work of Show Hope. We pray also for Steven Curtis Chapman’s new album, “The Glorious Unfolding,” that it may reach and inspire new advocates for the movement to care for orphans.
+ Anoint those involved in orphan care. We pray for your hand to be at work in the hearts of all who are beginning to apply for Show Hope’s 2014 trips. Grant wisdom and clarity in your calling.
+ Father to the fatherless, raise up greater numbers of Show Hope sponsors so that more waiting children can know the love and protection of a family through adoption.
+ Lord, raise up workers for the harvest through Orphan Sunday preparations. We ask that you would bless and prosper the efforts of all who are laboring to benefit the world’s waiting children through this day of focus.
+ Father of all mercy, provide rest and faith to waiting children. Work deep and abiding hope into their hearts and teach us all in ever-greater ways that your hand can be trusted even when it is difficult to see.
